Hydrotherapy in the Shower
Improving
Immunity through Contrast Showers
Bryan Skinner, N.D.
Hydrotherapy is a
traditional naturopathic therapy that has been used for various
health conditions since the early seventeen hundreds.
Hydrotherapy, by definition, is the application of water in
any form, either externally or internally, in the treatment of
disease and the maintenance of health.
The contrast shower is a
type of hydrotherapy which provides a safe, effective, and
convenient way for individuals to increase their energy and
immunity. The contrast
shower greatly increases circulation which will help the body in two
ways. First, increasing
circulation will provide a significant rise in immune cells and
nutrients to areas where they are needed.
Second, an increase in circulation will also dramatically
increase the excretion of metabolic and cellular waste from the
body. You can see from
this explanation that the contrast shower serves as a fantastic,
cost effective therapy which can be used to treat or prevent
illness.
The contrast shower can
be used as often as you would take a regular shower.
Begin by taking a hot shower for 10 minutes.
After this, turn the temperature knob down to luke warm and
rinse for 1 minute. Turn
off the water, dry yourself off and enjoy the rest of the day.
Be sure that you do not turn the temperature knob back up to
hot after you have completed the cold portion of the treatment.
Each time that you practice the contrast shower you will be
able to tolerate a greater degree of cold.
The goal is to be able to turn the temperature knob down to
the coldest setting for one minute.
Beware! - You just might fall in love with this therapy and
be unable to start your day without it!
